\"It was nice to get post that wasn't a bill\", Simeon Smith, 2026. Series of 9 postcards sent to collaborators who returned digital photos for collation. One postcard did not arrive.<\/p>
On Friday, 10th July I reached out via a social media post requesting collaborators for this project. The following Monday 13th I posted 8 out of the 9 postcards, keeping one for myself (bottom right). By Monday 20th, I had received 7 photos back. The collaborator with the missing postcard was responding to messages, the postcard just didn't turn up. On Friday 24 we decided to call time, and Royal Mail unwittingly became the 10th collaborator in this artwork.\u00a0<\/p>
This project originated from an interest in using the unique qualities of obsolete music devices like cassette recorders to add character to otherwise pristine productions. In this piece the postal service and the unique lighting and camera phones of 9 individuals play the role of a cassette. This is most notable in the scuffs present in on the top middle and middle left panels...\u00a0<\/p>
...and of course in the fact that one panel is missing.\u00a0<\/p>
